Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) and Filing
Complete your UCR filing, it’s fast and convenient. If you’re a brand new trucking company, you need to pay for the UCR now. If you have already started your trucking company, it’s important to complete your UCR filing for the coming year.
There are a lot of companies out there who try to overcharge for the UCR, but not us. We base our price on the number of trucks in your fleet, so you only pay as much as you need to.
What Should I Do After I Order?
First, pick the number of trucks in your fleet traveling interstate. If you have more than five trucks in your company, just give us a call at 1-866-739-2032, and we’ll let you know how we can help. From there, we’ll give you a call to get the rest of the information we need to take care of the registration for you. It’s that easy.
What Is the UCR?
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is a system trucking companies are required to register and pay a fee as part of government funding. You are required to file under the UCR if you are operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) that crosses state lines and meets these criteria:
- Has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) or gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,001 pounds or more
- Is designed to transport 10 or more passengers (including the driver)
- Is used to transport hazardous materials in a quantity that requires placarding
We cover more about the UCR in episode 23 of Haulin Assets.
Is It Time to File Your UCR?
Registration usually starts October 1st and is due no later than December 31st. Don’t get stopped at a port and placed out of service or fined because you are not current with your UCR filings!
What Else Do I Need?
If you’re filing your UCR for the first time, you’ll probably also need your new motor carrier authority, too. We can help you start your trucking company from step one.
Give us a call for any help you need determining whether or not you need to file the UCR and what other steps you need to take to keep your trucking company compliant.
